 Kerala Flood Of 2018
USD Consortium’s Distress Relief Efforts for Victims of Kerala Flood
  [August 24,2018]

Beginning on 16 August 2018, severe floods affected the south Indian state of Kerala, due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season. It was the worst flood in Kerala in nearly a century. Over 500 people died and about a million people were evacuated, mainly from places like Chengannur, Pandanad, Edanad, Aranmula, Kozhencherry, Ayiroor, Ranni, Pandalam, Kuttanad, Aluva,Chalakudy, N.Paravur, Chendamangalam, Eloor etc.
All 14 districts of the state were placed on red alert.

According to the Kerala government, one-sixth of the total population of Kerala had been directly affected by these floods and related incidents. The Indian government had declared it a Level 3 Calamity, or "calamity of a severe nature”. It is the worst flood in Kerala after the great flood of 99 that took place in 1924.

The flood has forced people to leave their homes and take shelter in more than 3000 relief camps spread across the state.
We are humbled to see how all of India has come together in helping the state of Kerala, which has been hit by the worst floods in the last 100 years.
Team USD also did their bit of efforts to help Flood Victims in Kerala, by donating food items like >250 kg rice, dry snacks, General medicines in bulk for water borne diseases, infections etc as suggested by Doctors, > 500 candles and match Boxes, >50 kg Detergent powder, >200 washing and bathing soaps, >200 Shampoo and oil pouches, >100 Toothbrush and Toothpastes, > 100 small Towels, more than 100 units of mosquito repellent etc

We believe in collective efforts and with the valuable contributions from the Society, we tried to play our role in mitigating the effects of the disaster and provide immediate relief to victims. We are very much thankful to every Donor for their valuable contributions, who all trusted us and with the help of these donations, we were able to purchase this much stuff.
