The Women Empowerment Division of USD Consortium is dedicated to reducing the negative impact of poverty on low income women and their children and "USD Women Creations" has proved out to be a big step in that direction.
Despite multiple responsibilities at home and additional commitments they have from different sources of livelihood, our USD Women have finally decided to step out of their house, attend various events, be it for short time (as per their convenience) to get more exposure and learning how to create/ produce items which can better meet the changing demands of the customers.
The event was COWE (Confederation of women Entrepreneurs) Rasoi Queen Season 3, 2018 and being a part of COWE, we got the opportunity to exhibit and sell the products created under our flagship brand "USD Women Creations". Banking & Women Empowerment

A path to Financial Inclusion & Economic Independence of Women.

We bank on women to raise the next generation, we bank on women to balance family responsibility with career or entrepreneurial demands, we bank on women to carry a double (or triple) burden with ease and grace, but we don't bank on women to be viable consumers of finance. WHY?

With woman holding only 24% of total operational bank account in the country and 28% of total deposits; the participation of woman in the banking sector is definitely not at an acceptable level. Especially when it comes to credit supplied, only 12% of individual bank load accounts belonged to woman, which clearly shows a disparity of access to banking services between the two genders.

To address this issue and raise the financial awareness among women of East Delhi & Knowledge of Banking Schemes for Women Entrepreneurs, USD Consortium organized a special session for Women Entrepreneurs on 6th May,2017.

The event was organized to celebrate the completion of three very challenging yet successful years of USD Group since its Incorporation on 6th May,2014. The Chief Guest of the Occasion was Mrs Kamlesh Dixit - The Chief Patron of USD Group.

The Guest of Honor, Key - Speaker and expert professional on Banking - an eminent personality Mrs. Vandana Brij Mohan - Branch Manager, Andhra bank, East Delhi graciously replied to all the queries of Women Entrepreneurs.

  •  Friends, Banks are one of the primary pillars of Indian economy and, therefore, are an ideal agent to play a pivotal role as for as woman empowerment is concerned. Many social scientists have derived that economic independence plays a vital role in ensuring that woman get equal opportunities in the society and thereby enjoy and benefit from their other rights. This makes woman empowerment as much of an economic issue as a social one.

USD Consortium is & will always be committed to its mission of Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women across Globe.

    PROJECT : SWAVLAMBAN-IV(SHG-CHANDER VIHAR,EAST DELHI)

    (March 2017)

USD Consortium again organizes women from Chander Vihar, East Delhi into Self-Help Groups (SHG) for a strong and permanent improvement of their socio-economic conditions. We are promoting income generating programs in these self-help groups to bring more economic development and independence to these women and their families. Because of the better welfare of these families, more children will be able to attend school instead of being forced into child labor.

Most of these women are talented house-wives who are not contributing in their family income, so we convince them & make them learn various micro-products/ food products like making pen holders, paper bags, home decor products apart from value-added products such as potato chips plain and flavored, pickles, biscuits, Namakpara, Gujiya (Snacks very common in Festivals like Holi in North India), etc.

The pics shared below are of one such SHG of women (around 5-6 women) making potato Chips in a very hygienic manner using mineral water for boiling the raw potato. These snacks are very popular at the time of Holi Festival in North India.

This SHG is managed & Guided by Ms Meenakshi Gora, and the women are Ms Kiran, Ms Shanti Devi, Ms Rupali Singh, Ms Neeraj, Ms Babita all from Chander Vihar, east Delhi.

  • "Women Entrepreneurship" Workshop in NIESBUD [1st - 2nd Oct, 2016]

WOMEN SELF HELP GROUPS (SHG) - A BEGINNING

Formation, development and promotion of women Self Help Groups is and will be one of the major programs of USD Consortium across the country. The basis of selection of activities we have done is - on the basis of availability of raw materials, demand of product and preference of SHG members.

The SHG development model is based on the idea of women empowerment, it not only offers members a sustainable income and a new level of financial mobility, but it also encourages women to utilize local resources, raises awareness of their rights & duties, develops leadership skills and confidence on their hidden talent. Without this opportunity these women would continue to struggle at the margins of society for generations to come.

USD Consortium facilitate the formation of SHGs, to encourage entrepreneurial spirit within the groups, so that their members can collectively establish their own small businesses and work towards financial independence. We try to provide them max support in the form of raw materials as well in the initial stage.

Interested members voluntarily come together to save small amounts, which nourishes a common fund, allowing them to meet their immediate needs as a community and grow together. Later other people also get motivation to pool their resources and start their entrepreneurial venture after seeing the success of their fellow members SHG.

    PROJECT - SWAVLAMBAN - III

Be it cooking ´homely´ meals, fashioning gourmet chocolates or making chips at home, many homemakers in East Delhi area where we have visited, have scaled up their creativity after getting assurance of support from us to make them more skilled & understanding the importance of maintaining hygiene in cooking related activities.

Cooking an art which the homemakers have always enjoyed doing in their routine lives can be their vocation also. They got themselves enrolled for trainings in skills of their choice (Skills which are approved by Government of India).

These talented women not only understood the importance of gaining financial independence but also the need of riding a new wave of confidence and self worth.

Beginning from various areas of East Delhi, India (like Hasanpur, Khichripur, Allah Colony, Chander Vihar, Mandawali etc), very soon we will try to cover entire Delhi to help our government in the economic empowerment of talented women specially housewives from all sections of the society.

USD Consortium is very much determined for socio-economic empowerment of women of our society.
